We still have a ways to go until we hit March 11th numbers but we may fall there. Quote
Guest arnold layne Posted May 12, 2022 Posted May 12, 2022 Fifth night. All those that tell you how great being sober is are liars. Bored all the time. But I guess that's better than dying maybe. Quote

But I guess that's better than dying maybe. Whenever I'm sober I become ridiculously productive. Mostly to keep a drink out of my hand. But yeah sobriety sucks. There's a reason running away from sobriety is as old as people. I'd dare call it the second oldest pastime. Obviously hooking is the oldest profession, getting fucked up to escape the hooking, either side, would immediately follow. Quote
Jack Burton Posted May 20, 2022 Posted May 20, 2022 I need to find a broad like this to drink 40's with. Quote
Jack Burton Posted May 20, 2022 Posted May 20, 2022 @RedHook I recall you saying you were in LA back in the day. Did you ever have Night Train? The song always made me want to try it, but idk if it even exists anymore. Someone give me a comparable fortified wine. Joe Biden's inflation is gonna make me wanna get drunk on the cheap for the time being. I'm close enough to the hood to find 40's, but i want to get on the nightrain. Quote

Perhaps you should peruse bumwine.com "Don't let the 0.5% less alcohol by volume fool you, the Night Train is all business when it pulls into the station. All aboard to nowhere - woo wooo! The night train runs only one route: sober to stupid with no roundtrip tickets available, and a strong liklihood of a train wreck along the way. This trainyard favorite is vinted and bottled by E&J Gallo Winery, in in Modesto, CA. Don't bother looking on their web page, because they dare not mention it there. As a clever disguise, the label says that it is made by "Night Train Limited." Some suspect that Night Train is really just Thunderbird with some Kool-Aid-like substance added to try to mask the Clorox flavor. Some of our researchers indicated that it gave them a NyQuil-like drowsiness, and perhaps this is why they put "night" in the name. [] Guaranteed to tickle your innards." This is exactly what i want. Don't ask me why. Quote
Baddest Apple of the Bunch Posted May 20, 2022 Posted May 20, 2022 I used to love me some cheap old Night Train Express. I don't think they make it anymore. Just like most other cheap fortified wines, they seem to be a thing of the past. Alot of them were made by the Gallo company, that just last year rebranded the classic fortified wine they used make under the Thunderbird name, and Re-Released as more normal low end wine. The whole culture has changed so much, everything now seems like it has to have the illusion of a high end product. And people just don't drink like they used to, most bars in my area are long gone. It's all restaurants and nightclubs now. I miss day drinking at dive bars. You might be able find MD 2020 (Mad Dog) still, I remember Albertsons stores still carrying it when I was living out west. 1 Quote
Baddest Apple of the Bunch Posted May 20, 2022 Posted May 20, 2022 Good news @Jack Burton Mad Dog 2020 does look to be the last one standing of fortified road bum wines. Of course the name has been changed to just MD 2020, but from what I remember its still the same, and as always it comes in many flavors. 1 Quote

Baddest Apple of the Bunch Posted May 20, 2022 Posted May 20, 2022 When I was younger I never drank water. I would drink Beer and Liquor all night, and then wake up and drink more Beer. I have no idea how I did it, I almost always have a bottle of water close by now 1 Quote

You stop caring about the number, and maybe even have a beer every now and then. But you've slowed down for so long that's just your pace now. Then it's 3am and you only slept about 20 minutes... desperate for ANY sleep, you go mix a drink and slam it in one go. Then you wake up at 6 for work wanting to die. I'm rambling... Quote
