It is decent. Worth a few listens.

I like it a lot. I just cannot get over the vocal production. If this leaked and we didn't know the track was in the works, everybody would laugh at it and call it a bad AI mashup.

His vocals have been very processed in the CD era, but they aren't out of line with what you'd expect from a professional major rock act. They don't stick out. I went back and listened to Rock The Rock, and while those vocals seem even more processed than the CD era stuff, no one would blink twice at them.

I have decent headphones/speakers. I think part of the disconnect is that a lot of people from Brazil who comment on this song are listening on 2000s Logitech speakers. I listened to this on my laptop using the internal speakers, and nothing sounds off. Once you listen to it on even remotely decent headphones or speakers, it's jarring.

It reminds me of the clipping drums from The General. I think it's a case where production wise, Axl has the pull to say "fuck up the drums", and no one is going to tell him "well sir, that won't sound good because X Y & Z". He's a senior citizen who has played hundreds of live shows. His hearing is likely fucked. We also know that Axl was supposed to be on 3 tracks, but ditched the other two and delayed this one out of being an alleged "perfectionist". Which to me sounds like he wasn't happy with the takes or is insecure about the state of his voice.

I sympathize with the fact that it's very difficult to be an ageing vocalist. Especially one whose body of work would be difficult to sing for someone in their prime. If the reason this sounds like a Cher song from the 90s is because he is insecure about the takes, or cannot sing in the style that he used to, I don't think it's the right response. We all know the songs that he sounds great on live like Wichita. I wish he'd focus on writing new material and releasing stuff he can sing now, even if it doesn't have the traditional Axl vocals. I would take that over Axl-X-Cher.

I could be completely wrong, his takes could have been great, and the AI Robot Raping Cher effect could just be bad taste on his part.

Robert Plant begrudgingly did "Stairway" and a few other Zeppelin songs last year for a charity gig with their original arrangements, but he's known for years that he can't sing those songs convincingly anymore (or without his voice cracking).

I think the Page/Plant gigs in 1998 were the last time he attempted to sing stuff in its original key, and that was more of a "I'm 50 now, better prove I can still do it" kind of thing

Axl should definitely tune down all the songs and see how it goes over. I'm a big fan of Hall and Oates, and Daryl Hall's voice has been shot for the better part of 15 years. They started downtuning songs live about a decade ago and no one really noticed.

I think Axl’s decided to go all in on a posthumous release for CD II and beyond. It is tough to sell albums when you are old and fat. Death restores your youth and gets people interested again.

Slash and Duff have failed to sell CD II, now they only option is Chinese Democracy II: Over My Dead Body?
The first streaming only release.
Then it vanishes after a week.

Burger King is gonna frame the Hamburglar for Axl’s death.

Once the Hamburglar is in jail with Diddy, Axl can have unlimited McFreak Offs.
