Pink Floyd just sold theirs for $400 million.  According to https://info.xposuremusic.com/article/the-5-biggest-music-catalog-sales-of-all-time

the top 5 of all time are

Queen:  $1.2 billion

Springsteen:  $500 million

 Bob Dylan:   $500 million

Pink Floyd:  $400 million

And a bunch at $300 million..... Phil Collins/Gensis,  Sting (notice it doesn't mention the Police), and Kiss.  Even mentions Slash's moms ex boyfriend Bowie at $250 million.

I got to think GNR is easily over $300 million and likely over $500 million.   This is pretty much based on Jungle and Sweet Child only.  I guess it would also depending on when the sell.  Is Axl the one that controls most of it and would get the biggest percentage?  Where does the money go?   It's generational wealth.

My fellow GNR fans, get in the ring and provide your responses....

1)  When/what year does it sell?

2)  How much does it sell for?

3)  Who gets the loot?

Didnt Paul McCartney pay 1 billion dollars for Michael Jacksons back catalogue or have i got that wrong?.

GNR catalog will be as much as Budweiser paid for Axl to appear in their commercial.

You are basically paying for 4 monster songs: Jungle, SCOM, Paradise City, and November Rain. That’s still 3 more than any of the bands who came after them have. They have four Wonderwalls, Enter Sandmans, and Smells Like Teen Spirits. You could argue that they have one more than Led Zeppelin who have Whole Lotta Love, Stairway to Heaven, and Kashmir.

Bizarrely Jackson bought the Beatles catalog for 47 mil from a company Northern Songs Ltd (started by Lennon/mcCartney) which bought the songs from Lennon/McCartney when they were broke after Apple corps disaster.

McCartney was the one who told MJ buying songs was a good investment. MJ used the songs to live lavish lifestyle and Beatles songs were more commercialized.

When MJ died Sony bought the catalog. It was too much for McCartney to buy. He complained that he wrote the songs for nothing.

But then later McCartney did a deal with Sony based on rights returning to Artist after 35 years. A sort of behind the scenes thing.

Welcome to the Jungle has gotta be the number one song played at North American sporting events for the last

30 plus years. Even the great Michael Jackson only has three monster songs: Beat It, Billie Jean, and Thriller. I wouldn’t be surprised if GnR gets 400 million for Jungle, SCOM, PC, and November Rain.

Compared to Chili Peppers and Motley Crue, GNR have much bigger hits. SCOM could be a Coca Cola commercial.

Half the catalog is not really that commercial though. for every Patience there's One in a Million.

When Paradise City is used at Trump rallies that has to be a sign, there's nothing more mainstream. It's hard to believe GNR is up there with Bruce Springsteen and Bob Dylan in political significance. KISS only got 300 mil? Capitalism in action.

GNR’s got four nukes. That’s enough to take out both Bruce and Bob combined.

GNR has a proven track in sports, movies, video games and even youtube now.

Maybe the 500 mil will help them make the Atlas Shrugged hologram video.

They dabbled in AI with The General video.

In all certainty Space X will play Rocket Queen when they send their first stripper to Mars.

AI was sent from the future to complete CD II.

It would make sense that the substances found on Mars would lead to more flexible and slicker poles.

Instead of selling the whole catalog to one buyer they should sell individual songs to the highest bidder. Welcome to the Jungle has to be worth at least a hundred million dollars on its own.

I don't think it can work that way because there would be a ton of interest in Jungle, Sweet Child, Paradise City, etc and zero interest in stuff like My World or Shotgun Blues.  I figure this is why artists sell entire catalogs versus individual songs.
