Bad Apple Movie Theead

Recommended Posts

I always watch Scorsese for the scenes and details, not really the story or point.

Like McC training Decapiro how Wall Street works or Wahlberg and Baldwin taking the meeting to get Costello.

Flowers Moon was the first DeNiro Decapiro pow wow early on and the paddling scene.

Aviator had some wild scenes where Ava Gardener goes to get him out of his urine collection factory.

Watched Leave the World Behind. Creeps me out to think that the Obama’s produced this one. Solid end of America conspiracy theory movie from the creator of Mr. Robot starring Julia Roberts, Ethan Hawke, and Mahershal Ali. The special effects are tv show level quality but the acting performances are really good.

I'm going to watch this next. I'm going in blind.

I agreed at first but it's grown on me after finding out why he did it. He basically accomplished two things with the ending.

1. Providing a conclusion to a story that never really had a proper satisfying ending

2. Scorsese acknowledging through his cameo that his movie is an imperfect Hollywood-ized version of the story, not that much different than the radio show the scene is depicting. Without the cameo the scene would come across as an elitist basking in his own perceived righteousness, but by inserting himself into the scene he acknowledges that he too is part of the shit.

I've already watched the movie 3 times, absolutely love it.

Exactly, peak shitlib.

It's not about you. Instead of letting the emotion linger, he has two shitty endings endings, both extremely shitlib in the shit variety.

I saw it as him basically telling Apple TV to fuck themselves for forcing him to do it from Leo's perspective.

I hate the ending but I want to interpret it as "we're commodifying their pain and you're paying for it heueueuue" but Scorsese isn't that based

I'm probably more of gypsy than you to be honest. Not sure what the goat references are about either.

Leave the World Behind is shit.  It's absolute garbage.  Did you know white people are bad and black people are good and virtuous?  And that white men are weak and stupid but black men are powerful and virile?

Way I rationalize it is we all descended from black people from Africa anyway. Obviously they have a size advantage. To be honest I look down and think maybe I'm trans?

Leave the World Behind (2023)

Water doesn't help prevent a hangover.

Bikini Kill. Ethan never stops being 90s. Still rocking a goatee.

Reminds me of Trespass that Nic Cage home invasion movie with Nicole Kidman. Maybe even Nocturnal Animals. Tau was a movie where AI home system imprisoned some one.

Hollywood is preparing us for power blackouts and shutting the internet down when Putin drops the nuke. Which will be staged.

I'm getting a U Turn meets Lost vibe now. The simulation is collapsing.

Post Pandemic Paranoia wave is coming.

Satanic Tesla product placement. We're all gonna die!!!!

The End Times of the Digital Apocalypse of Our Consciousness is Upon Us.

I feel a switcheroo coming. Never happened. I was expecting the black couple to be stealing the  house by staging a crisis. But it was just a woke hug in.

We are manifesting our own demise with a WW3 scenario and Zoomers have the answer:

More Snacks and Sitcoms.

"I'm Done Waiting."

They now want to experiment on us and see how we recover from lockdown.

More coke, more snickers. Never forget.

Creepshow

It is a fun comedic shlock anthology developed by Romero and Stephen King, a homage to the old EC comics. It is definitely the film Romero began to leave his student 'wildness' behind him and produce a more mainstream style of horror; he even has some proper qualified actors like Ted Danson and Leslie Nielsen and not just his Pittsburg drinking buddies - still a lot of Romero regulars though. It is such an enjoyable film, economic plotting, optical ingenuity, that there is really nothing more to say on it except maybe Stephen King's ridiculous overacting in the third story, which is also the weakest of the five stories: King was on a lot of powder and booze in those days and it shows.

I somehow had Creepshow 2 on bootleg dvd.

Have you seen The Stand or The Dead Zone?

There's also a TV show called Mr Mercedes? I read those midlife crisis cop books Finders Keepers, End of Watch.

Also Green Mile I want to watch again.

King is the ultimate judge him by his work not his politics. He's like completely woke lost it big time. He must compromised.

I watched The Dead Zone a few months ago. Very good. Convoluted a bit but good. The Stand, the old tv thing? I watched decades ago.

It is curious as we know King has this set of left-wing elitist politics which is very smug and condescending, the same politics as mygnr and George Takei and so forth, and the guy he plays in Creepshow almost seems like this politic's parody of a Trump supporter. He is watching American wrestling,

I just see his Twitter posts and it's like why? No need to say anything. Trump is Home Alone and Wrestling and King is The Shining and The Ramones. One's a funny parody of a demagogue and the other the prince of 80s darkness. Maybe that's it King doesn't want to be the evil guy, that's Trump banging porn stars in Russia.

It's like Lost. We have to go back. When you have no future all you have is the past.

Xers are the new boomers in a way, cheap credit is over and menial jobs won't pay for iPhones. Ethan's goatee is looking suspect.

Boomers often seem completely out of touch with reality. With jobs, pensions, going on cruises buying 3 new cars, going to famcy restaurants. All based on stealing money from their gran children's future and then calling  millennials and zoomers entitled lazy as the economy they tanked collapses. It's comical.

The new version of woke is boomer invented. It's just rich liberals jumping on some victim of their war economy so they feel better. It was usually the actual oppressed that got awakened to their plight. Now it's like the Nazis going did you know the Bankers are persecuted?

I’m gonna re watch Killers of the Flower Moon again this weekend. My first impressions were DiCaprio was miscast, it was 30 minutes too long and I sat there thinking this would be a great read most of the movie,  De Niro was great and the ending was great. It’s a weird thing but some movies in the cinema can be a better watch at home. I think this will be one of them.

I think it has rewatch value because it's understated.

I think DeCap does a good making the character likable even though he's not at all.

I don't like the end with Scorsese talking. It could've been flawless. It's too heavy handed. You don't need to press it home. We get it, poisoning women to get the land is poor form.

Creepshow 2

An enjoyable sequel directed by Romero's cinematographer from the first film - Romero himself was involved in the screenplay. It isn't as consistent the original Creepshow, and only consists of three stories* whereas the original consisted of five; it isn't as consistent but there is an argument to be said that the second story here, 'The Raft', is the greatest of all Creepshow stories - either film. Steven King yet again, by cameo, mocks working class people (cough, Trump voters) in this film's third story, 'The Hitchhiker', which is good but elongated. The first story, the Indian one, as well as the wrap-around are poor. But watch this for 'The Raft'.

* Two of King's stories were axed due to budget. One of them turns up in Tales from the Darkside: The Movie which is basically a third Creepshow film.

Is Raft where the high school kids go out on to a raft at a lake. I'm sure that story is in Skeleton Crew. I get mixed up between stories I read with movies. I really visualized Finders Keepers trilogy but it's only been a tv series.

The Mist is also a movie I read the story of. I think.

It has so many stories. The Mist is a stand alone novella plus The Monkey story, The Raft.

There's another one Everything's Eventual has the one about the hsunted room.

I read On Writing as well. It's half autobiography guide to writing.
